Here’s the Tower of Terror. If you’ve ridden this at any of the other parks, this ride is identical. What’s different here is the pre-show/story.
The Japanese are largely unfamiliar with the Twilight Zone series brand, so the story here is that a wealthy gentleman who gained his fortune through stealing others goods purchased the Hightower Hotel late in his life and one of the showcase pieces he owned was a cursed African statue named Shiriki Utundu. Shiriki’s statue comes to life late one night after Mr. Hightower snuffs out a cigarette on the head of the statue. The statue then kills Mr. Hightower by throwing him down an elevator shaft and apparently the hotel because haunted and kills those who enter it and choose to ride the elevator.
The experience is very familiar to those who ride the other versions, just that the pre-show stages in a different place and there’s not an elongated Twilight Zone sequence before the drop zone. You do get to see the cursed statue come to life and it’s the driving force to throwing you down the elevator shaft.
The line for this ride can get extremely long, so if you have an inclination to ride this ride, do it as soon as you can or get a Fast Pass.
The camera for the ride is taken right as you start your first drop, so make sure to look for the flash and SCREAM! :)
